Children’s Treasure

Long long ago, there was a great saint. People had  respect for him and many  came to him seeking his blessings. He had many disciples. Even kings and ministers came  to him for darsan and guidance for  a righteous life..

The saint became very old. He realised his soul would depart from his body. Hence he kept chanting the name of God and awaiting the time to reach God. Hearing this, people  from all parts of the country came for  the last darsan of  the saint. A few devotees were eager to get some advice also from him even during his last moments.

There were also people  who came expecting to get some special power or  materialistic benefit. from the saint. One of them was a rich man. He was a miser who loved his wealth very much and never gave a pie to any one. Hoping to get some more wealth, he came to have darsan of the saint.

The saint avoided meeting people and spent all his time in chanting God’s name.  He noticed the miser and called him to his bedside. The miser was very happy and looked at others with a haughty                     expression--“See how great I am. The saint has called me only.”

The miser wanted to know  why the saint chose him for this privilege. The saint replied, “I and these people waiting outside,  have a chance to meet again in some world, whereas a miser can never get salvation and I can never meet you again. So I wanted to do some good to you in this available opportunity.”

The miser felt ashamed of himself. He fell at the feet of the saint, assuring him to share  his wealth with needy people. The saint said, “Then we will definitely meet again at some time in some other
