It is generally the wish of all people to seek happiness in life. To fulfill that wish, God’s grace is very important. Also to obtain that grace, the Sastras have prescribed certain sadhanas, or practices.

Among the sadhanas, mantra japa is one. There is no doubt that if any mantra is practised with firm devotion, the wish will be fulfilled.

Among the mantras, the Gayatri mantra is supreme: In line with the statement, it is believed that the sound of Gayatri itself can save man from peril.

All benefits accrue to one who chants the Gayatri mantra.

The Gayatri mantra is given to one immediately after investiture of his scared thread. From that day he should continue the chant without missing a single day.

The benefit of this practice is given in the Suta Samhita:

One attains all one's desires and there is no cause for doubt. May all attain fulfillment through Gayatri upasana.
